Games, New Media & More

A bit overdue, but still: happy new year to all of you! Unfortunately, both the last days of 2009 as well as the first days of 2010 weren’t cheerful. Sadly, both my uncle and grandfather passed away. But there is still reason to be happy, though: I’m about to officially graduate my Bachelor Media & Culture!After two days of intense, hardcore studying I’m pretty sure I passed the final test (Ethics).

Since the start of my Master New Media & Digital Culture at Utrecht University is still half a year away, I have a four month gap awaiting me. Besides continuing my work as copy editor at Xi Online and contributing to Eurogamer Netherlands and Bashers, I’m hoping to do some theoretical work as well. This will ensure a smooth transition between my Bachelor and the upcoming Master .

Of course, this gap provides the perfect opportunity for doing something completely new as well. One the things I hope to do, is start to play the piano again. I played it for about three years, way back in the day, so I’m not a complete n00b. However, I seriously doubt I still got skillz. Also, I plan to visit a friend of mine in Sweden, who is currently living the good life of an exchange student.

Playing a musical instrument, graduating, writing, travelling and studying thus seem to be the main ingredients this year. Let’s hope they all turn out to contribute to a year worth remembering!
